This is the effort of working together with City Council, City Staff, our citizens and other elected officials. This list shows some of the great success we have had during that brief time. And… all this was done with NO CITY TAXES! Planned, funded and completed renovations to the Depot Community Center, stage, grounds and electronic message board Funded, designed and completed an addition to the walking trail in Lula’s Wellness Park doubling the length of the trail while maintaining a peaceful, wooded atmosphere Completed renovation of the facade of the Old City Hall and Jail restoring an historic awning over the sidewalk Weathered the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021 with no disruption of critical City Services and no transmission of the virus between City employees Completed the emergency replacement of a washed out roadway and culvert on Victoria Lane during the October 2020 storms Completed the replacement of smashed playground equipment in Lula’s Wellness Park after it was destroyed by a falling tree during the second October 2020 storm Completed the renovation of the Lula Sheriff’s Precinct building bringing more deputies to our City on a regular basis Planned and began the renovation of Administrative Offices and Lobby in Lula’s City Hall to make administrative operations more efficient Established the Lula Planning Commission to assist the Council in consideration of annexation, rezoning and variance requests Lula was recognized again as a “Plan First Community” by the Department of Community Affairs leading to lower interest rates on loans for Sewer Line I and the Hwy 365 Well project saving the City hundreds of thousands of dollars over the life of those loans Lula was recognized as a “City of Ethics” by the Georgia Municipal Association in 2021 Mayor Grier has improved relationships outside Lula.
